EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University men’s basketball Assistant Coach Muhamadou Kaba was named to the Silver Waves Media "50 Impactful Division II Assistants" list earlier this week. The organization does months of research and consulting with athletic directors, presidents, search firms and numerous influencers in the basketball space to compile the list.

Kaba, a 2015 ESU graduate, concluded his fourth season on the Warrior coaching staff in 2019-20. ESU has registered 86 victories overall in Kaba’s four seasons, including three-straight 20-plus win campaigns.

Kaba has helped guide the Warriors to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances, as well as a PSAC Championship and the first NCAA Atlantic Region Championship in program history in 2017-18. The Warriors went 27-6 overall and made the program’s first-ever Elite Eight appearance during the historic campaign.

In 2018, Kaba was named to the prestigious NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches) "30-Under-30" list, which recognizes a group of up and coming coaches in men’s basketball under the age of 30. He was just one of six Division II coaches to be recognized on the list in 2018.

As a student-athlete at ESU, Kaba was a four-year letterwinner from 2011-15 and a member of two PSAC Championship teams. He also played on three straight NCAA Tournament teams, and his 2013-14 squad finished with a 30-2 record, marking a program high for victories.

After graduating in the spring of 2015 with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Kaba was an eighth grade math teacher at East Orange STEM Academy during the 2015-16 academic year. He then joined Wilson's staff as a graduate assistant in 2016-17, and was promoted to assistant coach prior to the season due to a coaching staff vacancy.
