HERSHEY - Stroudsburg’s Lenny Pinto and Patrick Noonan marched to the semifinals of the PIAA wrestling tournament with victories in the quarterfinals on Friday afternoon at the Giant Center in Hershey.

Pinto, the District 11 and Northeast Region champion at 170 pounds, defeated Hampton’s Tyler Kocak in a 10-5 decision. Pinto will be back in action on Saturday in the semifinal against Dylan Reinert of Gettysburg.

Noonan also stayed perfect with a 6-2 decision over Neshaminy’s Zachary Martin in the 132 pound quarterfinal on Friday. Noonan will wrestle Seneca Valley’s Alejandro Herrera-Rondon in the semifinal.

Class 3A semifinal rounds will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Pocono Mountain East’s Steven Storm is still alive after rattling off several victories in the 138 pound consolation bracket.

Storm defeated Troy-Thomas Elhajj of Lower Dauphin by fall (:43) and Williamsport’s Riley Bower by decision (3-1). Storm meets Nazareth’s Dashawn Farber in the consi round of four on Saturday.

Stroudsburg’s Josh Jasionowicz also stayed alive in the 106 consolations with a victory over Penn Trafford’s Troy Hohman (Dec. 9-2), but was eliminated by Nic Allison of Mifflin County by major decision 13-4,

Boys Basketball

Notre Dame ES 71, Sullivan County 64

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg is moving on in the PIAA Class A boys basketball playoffs after defeating Sullivan County 71-64 on Friday night at Blue Mountain High School.

Shawn Seay led the way with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Aaron Bailey had a monster game recording 17 points, 15 rebounds, eight assists and three steals while Gary Natale added 15 points.

The Spartans will battle Chester Charter on Tuesday in the next round at a time and place to be determined. Chester Charter beat Greenwood 57-41 on Friday night.
