BETHLEHEM - Stroudsburg's Lenny Pinto did it again.

The junior repeated as district champion with a 3-2 victory over Easton's Dom Falcone at the District 11 3A wrestling championships on Saturday at Liberty High School.

Pinto claimed the title at 170 pounds with an impressive showing at the two-day event.

Pinto's teammate Patrick Noonan fell just short in the 132 pound final losing 7-5 in overtime to Bethlehem Catholic's Kenny Herrmann.

Pocono Mountain East's Steven Storm took third place at 138 pounds with a win by pin in 2:38 over Bryce Gonzalez.

At 152 pounds, ES South's Nick Alejandro won 1-0 over ES North's Wayne McIntyre to take third place. Alejandro's teammate Dawson Miller finished fifth at 126 pounds.

At 285 pounds, Stroudsburg's Sebastian Khamis earned a 3-1 victory by decision over Blue Mountain's Logan Holland. Stroudsburg's Josh Jasionowicz picked up a 10-2 victory over Whitehall's Wilfred Jimenez to claim fifth place at 106 pounds.

East Stroudsburg North's Avia Bibeau wrestled Saturday after winning in the consolation bracket at 132 pounds. Bibeau is the only girl in District 11 postseason history to win a tournament bout.

Qualifiers will wrestle next week in the Regional tournament also at Liberty High School.


Boys Basketball

Notre Dame ES 68, MMI Prep 37

EAST STROUDSBURG - No. 3 Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg rolled to a 68-37 victory over No. 6 MMI Prep on Saturday afternoon at East Stroudsburg South in the District 11 1A boys basketball playoffs.

Aaron Bailey led the Spartans with 21 points and Shawn Seay added 16.

Notre Dame advances to the semifinals on Wednesday to play No. 2 Tri-Valley at a time and place to be determined.
