A Tobyhanna woman was arrested on prostitution charges by detectives from the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office during an undercover sting operation at an East Stroudsburg hotel, officials said Tuesday.
Shaquela Fleming, 32, was caught in the sting at the Quality Inn on Greentree Drive after she agreed to perform a sex act for $175, officials said.
Fleming, who allegedly had a small amount of marijuana and $2,469, told investigators she had been engaged in prostitution at the hotel for about three weeks.
Detectives began their investigation after noticing an ad for prostitution on a website, officials said.
Fleming was provided an opportunity to partake in a program with Truth for Women, a non-profit organization in Bethlehem that detectives work closely with to help women get out of the life of prostitution.
This arrest is a part of the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office’s ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking.
A preliminary hearing for Fleming is scheduled at 11 a.m. on October 13.
