A man was stabbed several times in the face on lower Main Street in Stroudsburg on Monday afternoon, officials said.

The stabbing happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Main Street and the alleged attacker was taken into custody by Stroud Area Regional Police, said Capt. Paul Gasper.

Gasper said police were not releasing the names of the victim or the man who was arrested.

According to police emergency radio traffic, the stabbing happened at 330 Main St., at the McDonald’s fast food restaurant. The victim, according to the broadcast, was stabbed "multiple times" in the face.

Late Monday afternoon, SARP police were parked in front of an apartment building across the street from McDonald’s.

Police at the scene referred all questions to Gasper, who said the public was not in danger.
