New “Welcome to the Pocono Mountains” signs are now up and visible at all the major entry points to the Poconos.

“This idea for the signs has been in the making for over 15 years and have just now come to fruition,” said Brianna Strunk, Public Relations Manager for Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau. “You’ll see them at all the gateways, interstates and even Route 33 coming into our area.”

According to the Visitors Bureau, nearly 30 million people come through and visit the Pocono Mountains area. The greeting signs were strategically placed throughout the four-county region, on Interstate 80, Interstate 380, Interstate 476, Interstate 84 and Route 33.

“The Pocono Mountains is a major tourist destination, with many visitors traveling by vehicle” PMVB President and CEO Chris Barrett said in a press release Thursday. “These signs serve as a warm welcome to our guests and evoke pride among the residents who call this beautiful area home.”

Strunk said the $230,000 to fund this project came through grants from the Federal-Aid Highway Projects and the Visitors Bureau.
