Book Donations Requested: Friends of the Eastern Monroe Public library are accepting donations of good condition books, DVDs, CDs and audio books. Donations can be dropped off at the Hughes Library circulation desk, 1002 N. Ninth St., Stroudsburg, during normal business hours until May 15. Encyclopedias, textbook, magazines, audio cassettes, VHS tapes and poor condition items will not be accepted. All proceeds from the resale of these gently are used to benefit the library. Composting Basics Workshop: The Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority and Pocono Heritage Land Trust will co-sponsor a one-hour, backyard composting workshop in which participants will learn the “do’s and don’ts” of composting. The event will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. March 14, Brodhead Creek Heritage Center, 1539 Cherry Lane Road, East Stroudsburg.


The Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority will also be holding five additional composting classes this year at their headquarters in Blakeslee, 183 Commercial Blvd., Blakeslee. Classes will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. April 18, May 16, June 13, Sept. 5, Oct. 3. Cost: $25 per person and each participant will receive a backyard “Earth Machine” compost bin, retail value $99.
