Spring Conference: “Creating a Trauma Informed Community” 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 7, Perona Farms, 350 Andover Sparta Road, Andover, New Jersey. A look into how adverse childhood experiences intersect with behavioral health and substance use. Cost: $95 per person. Light breakfast and lunch provided. Exhibits by treatment providers. Keynote speaker will be Donna Jackson Nakazawa, an award-winning journalist and internationally recognized speaker whose work explores the intersection of neuroscience, immunology and human emotion. Her mission is to translate emerging science in a way that helps those with chronic conditions find healing. Following the keynote, an afternoon session will focus on Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral to Treatment, an approach to the delivery of early intervention and treatment to people with substance use disorders and those at risk of developing these disorders. 5K9 Fun Trail Run and Walk: The West End Park and Open Space Commission will host its annual 5K9 Fun Trail Run/Walk at 10 a.m. May 23 at the West End Regional Park, 3551 Merwine Hilltop Drive, Chestnuthill Township. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Open to all ages and abilities, and the Dave Fleetwood Memorial Trail will be available for those wishing a leisurely walk on a firm and stable surface accessible to all wheeled devices. Dogs are welcome as long as they remain on a leash (6-foot maximum).

All proceeds will fund the new West End Regional Leash-Free Dog Park off Merwine-Hilltop Drive. Registration is $20 per person and free for children under 12. The first 100 pre-registrants will receive a bandana. Door prizes, raffles, vendors and refreshments will be available. Register at
