The Delaware Valley Music Department Booster Club held a Scholarship Dining Out Fundraiser at Jake’s Wayback Burgers on Dec. 10, 2019. During the event, officers of the Booster Club awarded four $500 scholarships to DV students.

These scholarships are awarded annually to offset the cost for students in any grade who have attended a music camp or other program during the previous summer. In addition to the scholarships awarded to departing seniors, these grants reward current DV students for their accomplishments and commitment to music education.

This year, scholarships were awarded to three students who attended Jazz Camp at Marywood University’s Pennsylvania Jazz Institute: Timothy Cortes, grade nine grader, and John Michael Zirpoli and Matthew Cortes, grade 10. In addition, a scholarship was awarded to Evelyn Hupka, grade 11, who attended the Summer Classical Studies program at the Eastman Community Music School. Unfortunately, Evelyn was unable to attend the ceremony.

During the event, thanks were also extended to Mike Green and staff at Jake’s Wayback Burgers, who have been actively involved in helping the Booster Club raise funds for the scholarship program since 2014.
