Jackpot draw games like Powerball may get all the attention when it comes to Pennsylvania Lottery payouts, but it turns out that Monroe County is all about the Scratch-Offs, if January winnings have anything to say about it.

Last month’s winners’ list shows 108 Scratch-Off players in Monroe County raked in over $256,000 in winnings, with amounts ranging from $1,000 to $100,000.

One lucky player took $100,000 in the $500 Money Mayhem game, another earned $30,000 in the $300,000 Xtreme Xword game, two players won $10,000 each on the $1 Million Cash Blowout and Xtreme Xword games, one player got $3,000 from a Jingle all the Way ticket, and 103 other winning tickets took $1,000 on a variety of games.

It seems that the Fully Loaded Scratch-Off was one of the most popular in Monroe County, as 37 players won $1,000 each on the game.

The monthly winners’ list does not include prizes under $1,000, so it is more than likely that total winnings in the county are even greater than $256,000.

The Pennsylvania Lottery reported that Scratch-Off players throughout the state claimed a total of $193,992,504 in prizes in Jan. 2020, including six top prizes of $1 million claimed by players in York, Lebanon, Lycoming, Chester, Lehigh and Allegheny counties.

While none of those $1 million tickets were sold in Monroe, one was purchased at Pavansut Quick Mart on Cedar Crest Boulevard in Allentown. The retailer also earned a $5,000 for selling a $1 million ticket.

Other big wins across the state included 15 prizes of $300,000, one prize of $250,000, and 30 other $100,000 prizes in addition to the one that won in Monroe County.
