Family Service Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania will host its 12th annual Pauly Friedman 5K Family Walk/Run, which is its first ever virtual event, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing requirements. Participants may register online through noon Aug. 5 at https://runsignup.com/friedman5k.
Proceeds raised from this event will benefit PA 211 Northeast/Help Line which provides 24/7/365 information and referral, advocacy, and after hours telephone answering and crisis management support for the past 48 years. PA 211 Northeast/Help Line serves 17 counties across Northeastern PA and over 88,000 callers were connected to resources last year alone. Need support? Simply dial 2-1-1, text your zip code to 898-211 (TXT211) or log onto PA211NE.org.
Starting at 12 a.m. Aug. 1, registered participants may run or walk the 5K race at any point before the 10 p.m. cutoff on Aug 5. Submit racing results totaling 3.1 miles in the form of a screen shot of GPS data used by apps like Garmin, Strava, MapMyRun, etc. Running or walking on a treadmill is also permitted.
