Public Maple Sugaring Day is around the corner


Learn the science of maple trees, learn the history of maple sugaring and see real maple syrup made on a 90-minute tour of the Sugarbush at Meesing Outdoor Site. Tour stops include presentaitons on Native American and early pioneer methods of making maple syrup, evaporator processes and methods of identifying and tapping a maple tree. After the tour, taste some local syrup on freshly made pancakes. Dress to be outside and walking on potentially icy/snow covered trails.


When: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 7

Bring the pups to Upper Paradise Preserve


The Wildlands Conservancy will lead a hike along Pocono Heritage Land Trust's Henry's Crossing and Upper Paradise Preserves, following an old fire road for 3.5 - 4 miles total, at one point crossing Cranberry Creek. Leashed dogs welcome, no bathrooms available.

Learn the art of turkey calling


Hunters will have the opportunity to prep for turkey season in Pennsylvania and take their turkey calling skills and tactics to the next level with seminars by some of the best in the industry. Learn turkey calling tips from World Turkey Calling Champion Matt Morrett and Petersen’s Bowhunting Editor Christian Berg, as well as other presentations from experts. Proceeds from The Art of Turkey Calling benefit ArtsQuest’s free Step Outdoors festival for families May 30-31, as well as the conservation work of the Jerry Zimmerman Memorial & Walking Purchase Chapters of the National Wild Turkey Federation.
