The Words & Film series presents “Brooklyn” at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eastern Monroe Public Library, 1002 N. Ninth St., Stroudsburg, as part of its “Words and Film” Sunday Matinee Series.


In the film, an Irish immigrant lands in 1950s Brooklyn, where she quickly falls into a romance with a local. When her past catches up with her, however, she must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within.


“Brooklyn” is based on the bestselling novel by Colm Toibin with a screenplay written by Nick Hornby. Directed by John Crowley, this film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emory Cohen, and Domhnall Gleeson. Film is rated PG-13.
